  • The largest average building size by principal activity is inpatient health care – and they are nearly 8x larger than second (malls and strip malls).

  • 93.9% of all commercial buildings in the US are smaller than 50,000 square feet.

  • The square footage of the average commercial building built this century is 26%
    larger than those built in the 1960s.
