Ithaca, N.Y. – January 18, 2016 – Empower Equity, Inc. (EMPEQ) is pleased to welcome veteran energy efficiency and micro combined heat and power (micro-CHP, mCHP) expert Michael Monohan as Vice President of Market Integration. Monohan will lead the North American market rollouts for EMPEQ’s SIMPLE program. Monohan has directly designed and installed over 100 of the 700 micro-CHP systems currently operating in the United States.

“A lack of diverse funding options for the energy efficiency industry is why I joined this start-up,” said Monohan. “I have seen firsthand how difficult it is to sell energy efficiency upgrades using traditional financing methods, such as leasing and bank financing. The founders of EMPEQ have tapped into something truly groundbreaking for this industry with their approach to energy efficiency financing with the SIMPLE program—and, without question, I wanted to be a part of this pioneering team.”

Monohan joins EMPEQ from Evergreen Products, where he managed the micro-CHP department. Previously, he was the National Sales and Marketing Director of Marathon Engine Systems, based in East Troy, Wisconsin, where he was the subject matter expert on micro-CHP application and development for the Propane Education and Research Council. Additionally, he is known for having developed a hydronic solution for the residential and commercial markets using European EcoPower micro-CHP products.

“We believe that micro-CHP will play an important role in growing our SIMPLE program,” said Derek LaClair, EMPEQ’s President and CFO, “and we feel strongly that Mr. Monohan is the most qualified and experienced professional in the industry. His vast knowledge and expertise will help us accomplish our organization’s strategic goals for the SIMPLE program’s integrated approach, which looks to not only reduce usage in commercial buildings through load reduction, but also strives to create energy in much more efficient ways.”
